Spotlight on Stakeholders at Annual Appreciation Event

June 9th, 2010 by WCVA

Stakeholder-bkfstOn May 14, the WCVA held its annual Stakeholder Appreciation Breakfast during National Travel & Tourism Week. The event, attended by 72 stakeholders, industry partners and WCVA staff, celebrated our stakeholders, as well as said goodbye to former president and CEO, Ruthie Reinert.

To tie in with National Travel & Tourism Week, which is a national effort spearheaded by the U.S. Travel Association (USTA),  Travel Oregon’s chief strategy office, Scott West, gave a presentation on  “Why Tourism Matters” from a state-wide perspective.

For the second consecutive year, appreciation awards were presented to stakeholders for their outstanding contributions. Awardees are stakeholders who go “above and beyond” in their partnership efforts to promote tourism and to work with the WCVA.

This year’s winners were:

The Grand Hotel at Bridgeport
Smith Berry Barn
Broadway Rose Theatre Company
Montinore and SakéOne, tied
The Courts in Beaverton
InnVentures Properties
Hilton Garden Inn Portland/Beaverton
Stash Tea Store
Tualatin Riverkeepers
Hometown Advantage
Holiday Inn Express – Portland South
McMenamins
World Forestry Center

This year’s Stakeholder Appreciation Breakfast also served as the retirement party for outgoing president and CEO, Ruthie Reinert.  Current chair of the WCVA’s board of directors, Lisa DuPré, presented Reinert with a framed picture to commemorate her two-and-a-half years with the organization.

During the event, satisfaction surveys were distributed to the attendees, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Testimonials garnered from stakeholders included praise for the WCVA’s marketing efforts, the organization’s collaborative efforts, as well as networking and relationship building opportunities.

Many thanks to McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse in Hillsboro, Al’s Garden, the WCVA’s board of directors, WCVA staff, industry and tourism partners, and, of course, our stakeholders.
