Washington County Visitors Association Names New President and CEO

BEAVERTON, Ore. (May 17, 2010) – The Washington County Visitors Association (WCVA) announced at a recent industry event that esteemed hotelier Terry Goldman will join the tourism organization as its new president and chief executive officer.

Terry Goldman-08_web-smGoldman, who will take the leadership role on June 1, brings more than 16 years of tourism and hospitality to his new role. He has served on the WCVA’s board of directors since 2004, most recently serving as its chairman.

Currently, Goldman serves as commissioner on the Metro Exposition and Recreation Commission, and also served on the Tri County Lodging Association Board of Directors and the Washington County Fairgrounds Revitalization Taskforce.

A graduate of Washington State University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Hotel Restaurant Administration, Goldman has had an illustrious career in the hotel industry. Most recently, he was the general manager for the SpringHill Suites by Marriott, in Hillsboro, Oregon, a position he held for nearly seven years. In addition to his role as general manager, Goldman was the director of sales and marketing for the hotel property’s management company, InnSight Hotel Management Group.

In addition to his experience, Goldman has earned accolades and honors for his leadership in the hotel industry. Some of his awards include:

  • J. Willard Marriott Award of Excellence (2010)
  • Oregon Lodging Association’s “Innkeeper of the Year” award (2008)
  • SpringHill Suites’ “General Manager of the Year” award (2006)

While under his leadership, the SpringHill Suites by Marriott, in Hillsboro, earned several awards and was recognized as SpringHill Suites’ “Hotel of the Year” for two consecutive years, 2007 and 2008.

Goldman succeeds Ruthie Reinert as the WCVA’s president and CEO. Reinert, who joined the tourism organization September 2007, is retiring May 21, 2010, after a tourism career that spans more than two decades.
